sometimes, when my teacher comes to me
he is gentle and kind
he says: you're being too hard on yourself
you're pushing too hard

sometimes when he comes to me
he is determined and hard
unswerving
he stares at me
you're taking it easy
push!

sometimes he is an old man
he's had a stroke
he doesn't speak anymore
he puts his hand on his stomach
as if to say: all you have to do is breathe

sometimes he comes as a child
eager, bright-eyed
playful
laughing
