ancient battle anthems play in my ears
from far away and long ago

he sings about the tangle of life
we keep our pain in knots of blood

in my eyes i keep water for the lost
a number which encompasses us all

breathe. feel your feet on the ground
your tongue in your mouth

when every branch is insult, fighting, failure
here's to days when the war's in your head
